Zita Fletcher joined NGAUS as senior writer/editor last week.

Her duties include writing and editing the association’s weekly e-newsletter, Washington Report, as well as writing stories for NATIONAL GUARD magazine.

“I have an enthusiasm for supporting military service members, law enforcement officers and others who protect our country,” said Fletcher.

She previously worked as the editor at Military History Quarterly magazine and Vietnam magazine. Prior to NGAUS, she served as the historian for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Throughout her career she worked as a journalist and foreign correspondent in Germany.

She has written multiple books and analysis on Field Marshall Erwin Rommel, and has given several presentations on World War II.

Her newest book is Montgomery vs Rommel at El Aghelia 1942: Duel at the Gates of Egypt, published by Pen & Sword Military.

Fletcher received the Bronze Medal for Historical Fiction for The Hidden Sphinx: A Tale of World War II Egypt from the Military Writers Society of America.

She has a master’s degree in military history with distinction from the University of Birmingham's Centre for War Studies in the United Kingdom.

She also holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the University of South Florida with concentrations in international studies and criminology.
