An Indiana Army National Guard sergeant has joined the NGAUS staff as videographer in the communications department.
Skyler Schendt’s first days with the association were during the recent 148th General Conference & Exhibition in her home state.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to work in Washington, D.C., and what better place for me to work than a place that advocates for myself and fellow Guardsmen,” Schendt said. “I'm looking forward to learning more about the NGAUS mission and helping tell the Guard’s story."
She is the association’s first full-time videographer.
“Skyler fills a void in our communication’s arsenal,” said John Goheen, the NGAUS director of communications. “Video is a great way to share our message and what the staff does on a regular basis in the digital age. And now we have that capability.”
Schendt will work in collaboration with the comms team and other departments to produce video content for various projects to incorporate with the association’s social media platforms and other digital and membership/marketing assets.
She will also help NGAUS cover stories both in and out of the National Guard Memorial, the association’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Schendt has served in the Indiana Army Guard since January 2024. Previously, she was a member of the Nebraska Army Guard and deployed to Kosovo as part of Kosovo Force Regional Command – East.
As a public affairs specialist, she helped develop and deliver messaging statewide and during multinational operations.
Schendt graduated from University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications.
A native of Nebraska, she moved from Indianapolis to the D.C. area, and currently resides in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
