The NGAUS board of directors gathers three times a year in March, July and November. The meetings are held at the National Guard Memorial, the association headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The board consists of a chairman, vice chair-Army, vice chair-Air, secretary, treasurer, the immediate past chairman and 23 additional members, including three (one Army, one Air, one adjutant general) from each of six geographical areas nationwide, two retired/separated representatives (one Army, one Air), two company-grade reps (one Army, one Air) and a warrant officer representative.
Elections take place at the annual conference.
In 2025, area directors for areas I and IV will be selected, as well as new representatives for the company-grade committee, Air, and the retired/separated, Air, position.
