The NGAUS General Conference is the Association’s annual business meeting. Army and Air National Guard officers from all 50 states, three territories and the District of Columbia gather to network, set their legislative agenda and hear from America’s civilian and military leaders. Family members, industry representatives and local officials also attend. 

Recent speakers include congressional leaders, cabinet-level secretaries, Army and Air Force secretaries and chiefs, and other senior Pentagon officials.

NGAUS will hold a trade show in conjunction with the conference featuring products and services from more than 300 companies or organizations.

Primary social events include the Governor’s Reception, Hospitality Night and the States Dinner. Other events include golf tournaments, a Fun Run, mixers and luncheons.

CNGB MEMO The National Guard Bureau chief has signed a memo authorizing federal funding that each state and territory can spend to send a small number of company-grade and junior warrant officers to the 142nd General Conference & Exhibition, Aug. 27-30 in Las Vegas, Nevada for professional development. A copy of the memo is available here.

CONFERENCE HEALTH & SAFETY Planning continues with an emphasis on attendee health and safety. NGAUS will follow local mandates on the wearing of face coverings in common areas inside regardless of vaccination status. The association will include masks in the registration bags. In addition, the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and the official conference hotels observe the MGM Resorts Seven-Point Safety Plan, which includes enhanced sanitation, extra air circulation, and employee screening and temperature checks.

FAQs

Q: How do I register for the conference? 

A: Registration for the conference is $180 plus fees for shuttles or events. The registration process is dependent upon being an individual attendee, distinguished guest and exhibiting or non-exhibiting industry.

Individual attendees must register through their state association. Please contact your state association leadership for a registration application.

Distinguished guests must register by contacting Lakeshia Williams at [email protected].

Exhibitor and non-exhibiting registration will open in the near future on the NGAUS conference webpage. Booth sales are available through the Exhibitor Prospectus.

 

Q: I have registered through my state, now what?

A: All attendees can expect to receive correspondence from NGAUS as we draw closer to the conference start date. Correspondence will let attendees know what to expect upon arrival to the conference.

 

Q: I registered for the conference but am no longer able to attend. Can I get a refund for registering?

A: All registrations paid to attend the 143rd General Conference and Exhibition are refundable less a $15 administration fee until August 2. After August 2, all registration sales are final.

 

Q: Do I need proof of vaccination to attend or exhibit?

A: NGAUS encourages vaccination but neither proof of vaccination nor a negative COVID-19 test is required to attend.  

 

Q: Do I have to wear a mask at the conference or exhibition?   

A: State officials have mandated that people in Las Vegas must wear masks indoors in common areas, regardless of vaccination status. This will apply to all those at the conference, except when actively eating or drinking. NGAUS will include masks in the registration bags provided to all attendees.

 

Q: Should I stay home if I have come in contact with someone who has recently tested positive for COVID-19?  

A: NGAUS asks registered attendees to stay at home if they have COVID-19 symptoms or live with someone who has recently tested positive.

 

Q: Are there restrictions on the number of people on the exhibit floor, in the sessions or during social events?

A: No.

 

Q: Will there be a virtual component to the conference similar to the last year?

A: No, there will not be a virtual component or live-streaming similar to last year; however, all major speeches will be posted to the NGAUS YouTube Channel the evening after they are made.

 

Additional Health & Safety Information

NGAUS is committed to the health and safety of all our attendees, exhibitors, guests and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. The leadership is monitoring recommendations from local health authorities and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for large group meetings and events. 

The host venue for the 143rd General Conference & Exhibition, the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, has implemented stringent measures to protect guest health and safety as part of the MGM Resorts Seven-Point Safety Plan, which includes enhanced sanitation, extra air circulation, and employee screening and temperature checks.

Here’s what you can expect:

Masks: Bring your own for your arrival at your hotel. Extras will be in your registration bag.

Hand Sanitizing Stations: They will be available throughout the hotels and the convention center, including common areas and the exhibit hall.

Enhanced cleaning and safety protocols: Conference hotels and the convention center have increased routine cleaning, with a focus on high-touch surfaces and common areas using clean products that meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines.

Enhanced Air Circulation & Filtration: Conference hotels and the convention center have taken measures to provide as much outside air circulation as possible, with air filters that meet or exceed published standards.

Increased Safety Messages: NGAUS will share health and safety messages through the association’s conference app. The app, sponsored by AFBA, is available for download in the Apple Store and on Google Play.

Contactless Check-In: Conference attendees will be able to check in on their smartphones. They will not have to wait in line. For those without smartphones or who prefer not to use them, the hotels will have line-reduced registration.  

Medical Personnel on Site: The convention center will have medical personnel on-site to help anyone feeling ill. If a guest or employee tests positive for the virus, MGM will activate protocols and dispatch trained staff to thoroughly sanitize the exposed area.
