Retired Col. Peter Boone, a former Georgia Air National Guard C-130 Hercules navigator with extensive legislative liaison experience, is taking over as the Government Affairs manager for Air National Guard programs at NGAUS.

Boone will be responsible for coordinating directly with ANG leadership in the 54 states, territories and District of Columbia, as well as the National Guard Bureau staff, to advocate and influence Members of Congress to support our members.

“I’m excited to take my diverse experience serving in the Air National Guard, coupled with my most recent experience working in the National Guard Legislative Liaison office, and advocate for our Airmen and their families on Capitol Hill,” said Boone.

“I plan to leverage the relationships I’ve established over the course of my 27-plus years serving in uniform and work tirelessly to provide the necessary resources for our Air Guardsmen to be successful.”

Prior to NGAUS, Col. Boone was a fully qualified Navigator flying “Pole to Pole” missions with the New York Air National Guard, 109th Airlift Wing, supporting Operation Deep Freeze followed by numerous tours at the Air National Guard Readiness Center including C-130 operations/scheduling and programming/budgeting.

Following these staff tours, Boone joined the Georgia Air National Guard, 165th Airlift Wing in Savannah, Ga., where he also had the opportunity to command at the Squadron, Group, and Vice Wing level.

After his tenure in Savannah, he had the distinct privilege of serving as the 156th Wing Commander in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard while they transitioned from a C-130 flying mission to a Contingency Response Group and Combat Communications Squadron.

Boone’s final military tour was serving as the National Guard Bureau Legislative Liaison Division Chief, directly supporting the Chief of the National Guard Bureau, Director of the Army National Guard and Director of the Air National Guard while educating and informing Members of Congress and congressional staff on National Guard legislative priorities.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Geology from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, and has two master’s degrees; one from Air University in Military Operational Art and Science and one from the National War College in National Security Strategy.

Boone resides in Arlington, Va.
