Over the last several years the full time staff at unit level have experienced a dramatic increase in the number of functions as it relates to maintaining the tactical mission command systems in order maximize IDT training time for the M-Day soldiers. At the Battalion Level there are; several different types of radios; encryption devices; global positioning systems; digital command post platforms with server stacks; applications related to battlefield management across all the domains of warfare; and in-vehicle situational awareness systems. The quantities of these systems grows at the Brigade and Division levels. While the number of systems has grown and the need to maintain an increased level of readiness for each of them, the number of full time staff to maintain them has not.

At the JFHQ level the tasks associated with maintaining our Cyber Readiness posture have exceeded the manning allowed. This is based on the changing standards for the Cyber Command Readiness Inspection (CCRI) program, and the migration to the Risk Management Framework with its associated controls to meet a secure network posture. This is compounded by the increased readiness requirements which is only enabled by increasing our technological footprint. While the ARNG has yet fail the standards for the CCRI, it is only through the unrealistic efforts of the full time staff who work numerous extra hours racking up compensation time to ensure they are ready.
