Many restaurants, retailers and recreational areas nationwide will honor veterans and current service members with free meals and other special deals for Veterans Day Saturday.
The following list is from the Department of Veterans Affairs and entities that directly contacted NGAUS.
The eligibility criteria are provided and vary by establishment.
Some of these establishments' criteria use the term "active duty." The association's staff checks with a few of these establishments every year and always finds the intent is to provide the discount to those people who are currently serving, including drilling members of the National Guard, not just personnel on active-duty orders.
Participants may need proof of service — such as a military ID card or a driver’s license with the veteran designation — to take advantage of some Veterans Day deals.
