Proposal Statement
Procure and fund electronic warfare (EW) controller for C-130J aircraft
Recommendation Information
CRITICAL NEED FOR SUPPORT - C-130J aircraft need an EW Controller to ensure increased situational awareness to correlate on board and off-board threat detection, terrain masking, and optimized dynamic rerouting capabilities to minimize exposure to threats and counter threats that are immediately impacting the aircraft.
CRITICAL NEED FOR SUPPORT - Future conflicts will include a wide spectrum of Radio Frequency (RF) threats, in addition to a robust IR threat from man-portable and vehicle-borne systems. C-130H aircraft can expect to face or operate near RF-based threats. Most ANG C130H aircraft have limited or no RF detection capability.
e
STATES IMPACTED - All ANG C-130 J Aircraft at CONUS and OCONUS sites
MISSION CRITICAL NEED - A robust integrated electronic attack suite will enable all C-130Js to counter current and future radars. The attributes of this of this integrated suite shall incorporate an ALQ-213 using current software and an ALE-40 with programmable cartridge for RF expandable decoys as well as integrated IR to counter the immediate threats to the aircraft.
DEPLOYMENT JUSTIFICATION - C130Js will remain at risk to many current and all advanced threat systems utilizing in areas of denied access, significantly the aircrew ability to survive, accomplish assigned missions, and meet combatant commanders.
FUNDING JUSTIFICATION - According, EW sustainment funding must be reinstated and legacy obsolescence addressed with interim capabilities for the combat-coded Air National Guard (ANG) C-130J aircraft.
UASF FUNDING TO DATE - USAF is considering this capability for their C-130J Aircraft
