Proposal Statement
Immediate retrofit of F-15C/D with interim capabilities such as a digital radar warning receiver (RWR) ALR-56C+, offensive/defensive digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) electronic attack (EA), and counter measures capable of decoying current IR threats. This expedited need is due to the delay of the integrated Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS), estimated to be operation on/near ~2025.
Recommendation Information
- Program/Activity Report language requested:
- Enhanced Electronic Warfare (EW) and Self-Protection: The F-15C/D is not currently survivable in an anti-access area denial (A2AD) scenario. The F-15C/D legacy EW system sustainment was terminated in FY12. EPAWSS will not field until ~2025. In order to execute combat taskings over the next eight years, the F-15C/D must be retrofit with interim capabilities such as a digital RWR (ALR-56C+), offensive/defensive DRFM EA, and counter measures capable of decoying current IR threats. Additionally, a Fiber Optic Towed Decoy (FOTD) is necessary to increase F-15C/D survivability in a contested environment. A Reduced Radar Cross Section (RCS) treatment is required to reduce enemy detection ranges, increase survivability, and maximize F-15C/D first launch opportunity.
- RDT&E Budget Item Justification PB 2019 Air Force Exhibit R-2 currently states:
