B. Enhanced electronic warfare (EW) and self-protection: The F-15C is not currently survivable in a anti-axis area denial (A2AD) scenario. The F-15C legacy EW system sustainment was terminated in FY12. The replacement EW system, Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS), will not field until ~2025. In order to execute combat taskings over the next eight years, the F-15C must be retrofit with interim capabilities such as a digital RWR (ALR-56C+), offensive/defensive digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) electronic attack (EA), and counter measures capable of decoying current IR threats . Additionally, a Fiber Optic Towed Decoy (FOTD) is necessary to increase F-15C survivability in a contested environment. A Reduced Radar Cross Section (RCS) treatment is required to reduce enemy detection ranges, increase survivability, and maximize F-15C first launch opportunity.
