Minuteman Minute - Minie Ball from the Civil War

Some of the smallest artifacts in our museum have the biggest stories to tell. Dr. Anne Armstrong presents a common artifact of many Civil War battlefields, known as the minie ball. This particular minie ball was excavated at the site of a Civil War encampment in Stafford County, Virginia, near the famous battlefield of Fredericksburg. Dr. Armstrong explains the technological significance of the minie ball and the reason it was so widely used during the Civil War.
