Proposal Statement
Enhance and modernize the ARNG Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPC) and Controlled Humidity Asset Program (CHAP).
Recommendation Information
Change the description to recommend support for the entire corrosion prevention program. ARNG CPC / CHAP infrastructure is experiencing declines in operational capability, jeopardizing preservation of stored equipment and further draining maintenance resources. The U.S. Army spends approximately $2.5B annually on corrosion prevention and related maintenance. However, the ARNG receives approx 5% of this amount for its program across the 54 S/T/D. Every state that has a CPC/CHAP program is impacted due to failing systems and an approximate 95% non-operational rate of ARNG inspected CHAP shelter systems. Modernization efforts would include Operational Preservation (OP) line maintenance and sustainability, trickle charger reels capable of maintaining battery life for equipment in a suspended state, total asset visibility and automated inventory management systems, and the maintenance and sustainability of dehumidification systems. New shelter systems, mobile systems, and integration into advanced manufacturing are other initiatives.
