The Issue

National Guardsmen and Reservists face unique mental health challenges compared to active component servicemembers, such as limited access to timely, quality care and programs tailored to Reserve Component operational needs.

Accomplishment

Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 Department of Defense (DoD) appropriations legislation provides $8.0 million for the National Guard preventative mental health pilot program, includes $4.0 million for the Army National Guard and $4.0 million for the Air National Guard.
