Proposal Statement
Install truck bed toppers to protect mission-essential equipment from weather and theft, increase secure storage capacity, and enhance operational readiness by improving the organization, transport, and availability of resources.
Recommendation Information
1. Truck bed toppers should be included on the unit's Joint Mission Essential Equipment List (JMEL) because they are a mission-essential capability that protects government equipment, extends equipment service life, and enhances operational readiness. As a standard requirement for mission vehicles, truck bed toppers should be procured and fielded with the vehicles they support. Inside storage space is inadequate.
2. Installing truck bed toppers on existing vehicles will provide secure, weather-resistant storage for mission-essential equipment, reducing the risk of damage from rain, snow, dust, and other environmental conditions.
3. The additional enclosed cargo space will improve operational efficiency by allowing equipment, supplies, and tools to be transported in an organized manner while maintaining immediate accessibility for Elements during mission execution: Search & Extraction, Decontamination, Medical, Fatalities Search & Recovery.
4. Truck bed toppers will also protect personnel bags, uniforms, and individual equipment from weather exposure and theft, ensuring members have access to dry, serviceable gear when reporting for duty or responding to missions.
RECOMMENDATION: Procure truck bed toppers for all 17 NG CERFPs.
