Recommendation Information
For too long, National Guard members have faced stricter service requirements to earn the VA Home Loan benefit compared to their Active Component counterparts, creating a confusing, unequal system where some forms of service count while others do not. This disparity is especially harmful to our most junior soldiers, denying them access to affordable housing for years—often when they are at their lowest income levels—even after performing substantial military service.
