Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV), Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT), Palletized Load System (PLS) trucks and trailers, Enhanced Container Handling Unit (ECHU), Potable Water Trailers, and modernize Heavy Equipment Transport System (HETS).
Recommendation Information
Change the existing resolution to ensure an upgrade to the potable water trailer system is included.
The Army BISON water system is a greatly enhanced water trailer with greater carrying capacity at 500 gallons compared to the legacy 400-gallon water buffalo trailer. Currently, fielding projections go out to possibly as far as the 2050s until it is fully fielded across the force. It replaces the older steel trailers with advanced insulation and a more rugged, high-mobility trailer capable of preventing water from freezing in temperatures as low as -50 degrees Fahrenheit. The increased carrying capacity is critical in a Large-Scale Combat Operational environment as well as in emerging environments in the Arctic. The current legacy system was first introduced to military service in the mid-1950s. The impact is to the majority of units and Soldiers across the force.
