All Air National Guard Wings assigned to Mobility Assigned Forces (MAF) should be manned for their full complement of assigned aircraft, commonly referred to as Planned Aircraft Assignment (PAA).
Recommendation Information
Under Air Force Instruction (AFI) 10 402 and related mobilization policy, all Air National Guard (ANG) wings assigned to Mobility Assigned Forces (MAF) must be manned to their full assigned aircraft complement when mobilized for federal service static.e-publishing.af.mil. This requirement ensures that the wing can perform its mission without gaps in aircraft availability, which is critical for air mobility operations.
What “PAA” Means
- PAA stands for Planned Aircraft Assignment — the official Air Force designation for the full complement of aircraft a unit is authorized to operate under its mission and equipment plan.
- For MAF wings, this means the unit must have all aircraft in its PAA available and operational when activated, regardless of whether they are in the unit’s home station or deployed.
