Fund and Procure Beyond Line-of-Sight Communications.
Recommendation Information
This is a 2026 WEPTAC Critical capability and is supported by both the F-15 WSC and CAF Task Force.
1. Background. ANG F-15s require data from beyond line-of-sight communications utilizing existing Proliferated Low Earth Orbit (P-LEO). The long-range kill chain executed by the F-15 must first have a cue. Homeland Defense missions require a long-range cue to orient defense assets to the correct location. To accomplish this, the F-15EX can utilize an existing Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) array and existing T-2 modifications. This data receipt (and data processing in the following critical capability) will allow for greater survivability and lethality of ANG assets, enabling the Long Range Kill Chain.
2. Requirement. ACC 24-113 (F-15EX FCP BLOS), ACC 25-121 (TACKit), ACC 25-080 (Eagle Tether), ACC 24-111 (F-15EX Hybrid SATCOM).
3. Impact if Not Funded. Fighter units will be unable to support deployed Combatant Commanders’ intent. Additionally, units will be degraded in home station ACA missions.
