Core Radio Package & Radio IP Bridge
Recommend that Congress budget for this mission critical program. Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution is available.
Units Required: 8 Unit Cost: $100,000 Program Cost: $800,000
Recommendation Information
Background: AOCs continue to use Radio Frequency (RF) as a means to communicate with joint services, allies, partner nations, aircraft platforms, associate units, etc. To support their aligned AOCs, ANG units require the Core Radio Package System (CRPS) /AccessNet to properly train and equip both their operators and their maintainers. An additional benefit is enhanced state readiness capability by providing integrated real-time training between multiple in-state units. AOC units need to train on the same systems as the AOCs they support. Also, a Radio-IP Bridge (such as AccessNet) can be used by ANG AOC’s:
- To simulate and train realistic TACS control procedures.
- For Real-world events supporting Distributed Ops to the aligned unit and multiple in-state units
- Local state readiness training by providing integrated real-time training between multiple in-state units

Impact If Not Funded: ANG AOCs will be unable to fully participate in Distributed Ops with their aligned AOC, losing capability to seamlessly integrate with the aligned AOC. Effectiveness of local state exercises is reduced because the capability for multi-unit integration is greatly reduced. Units will remain unable to train and equip assigned radio maintenance and operations personnel.

Units Impacted:

152 AOG (Syracuse, NY) 157 AOG (Jefferson Barracks, MO) 217 AOG (Battle Creek, MI)
