B. Allowing members of the National Guard who have served honorably to be “veterans” and qualify for receipts ofretired pay and benefits consistent with their active duty counterparts.
2016 law gives official veteran status to National Guard members who served 20 years or more. Previously, Guard members were considered veterans only if they served 180 days or more in a federal status outside of training. This is an old resolution and if there needs to be more action it should be resubmitted.
