Not all NG units currently possess an effective, redundant and integrated command and control architecture that will ensure continuity of operations, unity of command and a common operating picture across a large state whose population centers are geographically separated by large expanses of desolate land. Rebuilding outdated capability at National Guard Bases will provide for the following: Seamless and integrated operations in a joint environment; Continuity of operations in the event a NG location becomes inoperable; Flexible and redundant continuity of government sites for the Governors; Common command and control infrastructure that is compatible and compliant with National Guard, FEMA and local first responder standards; Flexibility in leveraging diverse NG capabilities throughout states and across the entirety of FEMA Region's when required.
