Require National Guard Bureau(NGB) to provide funding for Guardsmen who are required to have Continuing Medical Education (CME) for professional certifications and licensing pertinent to their Guard duties.
Recommendation Information
Many of our military medical staff, Nurses (Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Combat Medic (Emergency Medical Technologist), Radiographic Technologist, and most others) must pay for CME's from their own pocket. The Guard should be funding a majority of these costs that are shouldered by our medical professionals in order to retain and ensure we have the best most qualified personnel available to support the Guard mission.
TASK FORCE RECOMMENDATION: CONCUR. Issues with determining what is for civilian job versus what is for Guard job, and who determines.
NGB RECOMMENDATION: Valid Requirement. Licenses required to continue practice nursing.
