Recommend aviation units have communication equipment installed capable of talking to civilian SAR teams operating on local emergency networks. Currently there are few if any organic assets to fill this need, and, where there are assets they are being moved around from airframe to airframe as a adhoc capability causing unnecessary wear and tear on airframes and radio equipment. This capability would increase safety and efficiency of search operations in each state. This equipment/capability was discussed at the 2018 National Guard and Reserve Equipment Appropriation (NGREA) conference and is published as a essential capability needed under the Emergency Support Function (ESF) 9 - Search and Rescue in the 2018 ANG Domestic Capability Priority booklet.
