º Currently hand held extinguishers are used to provide emergency fire suppression to a vehicle’s undercarriage and wheel-wells in addition to the surrounding affected areas.

º The current deployment of these devices has enabled safe war-fighter egress but does little to assure limited damage to the vehicle and other valuable assets.

º These extinguishers have been fielded for both commercial and militarily application for decades and have provided emergency response but are limited in the scope of protection.

º Extinguishers are tested and listed by approved Third Party Laboratories by each manufacturer and are designed to provide limited but reliable light weight Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) protection. In addition several units are manufactured in the USA.

Recommend the procurement, installation and maintenance training of the Mobile Units for the National Guard in light of the ever expanding mission.
