Aligning protections for students using the GI Bill with those in place at the Department of Education for students using Title IV funds and at the Department of Defense for students using Tuition Assistance.
Recommendation Information
Unlike student veterans using GI Bill funds, students using Tile IV funds from the Department of Education and Tuition Assistance from the Department of Defense have the rights to refunds in cases of college fraud and college closure. The Veterans Administration(VA) needs to provide the same rights to refunds incase of college fraud and college closures for our student veterans. The VA needs tools to monitor the financial stability of colleges similar to those used by the Department of Education and Department of Defense in order to meaningfully protect our student veterans from college fraud and closures.
