Proposal Statement
In support of current and future domestic operations, the National Guard Association of the United States supports the procure of the Internal Aerial Wild-land Fire Suppression System, in an effort to combat the proliferation of wildfires that have devastated the Western North American Region as a result of drought, urban sprawl, and climate change.
Recommendation Information
Per Congressional direction to National Guard Bureau and supporting Congressional legislation, State National Guard Aviation has been tasked with aiding in the suppression efforts of Wild-land/Urban fires. Nearly 50 million homes are currently in the wild-land urban interface in the United States, the number will increasing by 1 million homes every 3 years.
Currently the National Guard water suppression system consist of an antiquated conventional single water bucket system. The current fire fighting system has many shortcomings to include the inability to draw water from shallow or confined sources, carry foam or fire retardant agents, fight fires in populated areas and or taxi when deployed.
The need for a revolutionary internal Wildfire Water Suppression System is essential to combat the ever growing threat of wild-land fires that are becoming more numerous across the North American landscape. This resolution seeks to procure a fire fighting system that is efficient, deployable and safety focused. The Wildfire Water Suppression System will give the Army National Guard the means by which to fight the ever growing threat wild-land fires present, not only to rural America, but urban areas alike.
