Proposal Statement
Introduce an Integrated Cockpit Sensing (ICS) solution that meets air worthiness and flight safety requirements for the pilot that provides biometric and life support data to the ground and pilot to prevent unexplained physiological episodes (UPE)
Recommendation Information
- Solution is platform agnostic and is determined to be “sensor” agnostic as the program is further developed and new technology comes to play
- Solution uses multiple data streams from heart rate sensors, temperature sensors, O2 sensors, and environmental sensors etc to provide a full “suite” of data for the pilot, and postflight analysis
- Systems process/integrate each unique data stream on a processor to provide onboard analytics, data recording, and pilot alerting if one or more critical thresholds are “tripped” that may result in a UPE
- Data will be flagged & tagged for quick download and assessment post flight by flight surgeons (if necessary) or just long-term data retention for future analysis
- Data will bridge current technology, that is being researched at AFRL, integrate it together (so its an integrated, user friendly product), validate in-flight, and transition the technology to the ANG pilots
