Proposal Statement
Modernize ranges using Tactical Data Link Architecture for combat and domestic training
Recommendation Information
1. Background. The Air National Guard (ANG) continues to modernize range instrumentation and system integration. To support Ready Aircrew Program (RAP) requirements, the ANG Operational Training Enterprise (Airspace, Primary Training Ranges (PTR), Regional Training Centers (RTC), and Forward Operating Locations (FOL)) require realistic, standardized, full spectrum, and immersive electronic training environments that include appropriate levels of communications and tactical data link (TDL) systems. Range instrumentation systems are required to replicate the operating environment, record, score employment and relay data in a usable format back to the war-fighter. Acquisition of these systems will provide ANG units the ability to accomplish realistic full-spectrum training from home station. Range instrumentation systems fully integrated with voice and data systems provide a range environment for ANG aircrew to exercise the full kill chain. It increases sortie effectiveness and provides an environment for multiple aircrews and joint training opportunities for ANG war-fighters. It also provides capability to provide training within distributed mission operations in an LVC environment. The systems will be located at the RTC’s, PTRs and FOL’s with distributed AAR to the squadron level.
