FMTV, HMMWV, and Light Utility Trailers represent over 80,000 vehicles and trailers fielded by the National Guard that could benefit from hard cover technology. When composite solutions are compared to canvas, bows, and bungees, it is easy to quantify the value proposition. Canvas, bungees, and bows deteriorate in less than one year in extreme temperatures and provide little or no environmental protection. They often collapse under heavy snow loads in snow regions and do not provide a lockable security. Whereas, many of the composite replacements will be in service for more that 20+ years.
