Propose creation of an Air National Guard (ANG) space operational intelligence capability to support expanding United States (US) Space Operations, by establishment of an ANG Space Control Group at the 107th Attack Wing.
Recommendation Information
-Operational intelligence for Space is a known capability gap and the 2018 National Space Strategy calls for US forces to improve space intelligence capabilities.
-Space is a significantly different warfighting domain and requires a specific knowledge set and proficiency for operational intelligence.
-New York Air National Guard (NYANG) has resident knowledge requisite to build a capability that could provide operational intelligence support to Air Force/DoD Space Control and National Security Space missions.
-The recommended ANG Space Group includes a new Space Intelligence Squadron and the 222d Command and Control Squadron leveraging existing NYANG space acumen to support Air Force Space Operations.
