The number of terrorist and active shooter threats grow year over year. The National Guard currently has a number of soft targets where men and women who have volunteered to serve their country are under protected and exposed to such attacks. This year the tragedy in Tennessee has made it impossible to ignore any longer. We must provide a solution to this growing threat. Many of these soft targets are recruiting stations, often in a leased store front not owned by the Guard. Permanent structural changes to the location may not be possible nor cost effective if the end of the lease prompts the station to move to another location. Therefore a mobile or modular system of bullet, blast and fragmentation protection would be the most cost effective and long term means of providing protection for our Soldiers and Airmen.
