The placement of landing zone lighting kits into the equipment kits for the HRF and CST should enhance operational capabilities and provide a safe guided approach to the landing zone.
2. Tactical Airlift units conduct Aerial Port of Debarkation/Embarkation for deployment/evacuation and Aerial Points of Distribution (APOD) missions in the event of a natural disaster. Since austere and Joint Use airfields could experience power outages, damage to lighting systems, etc. there are major safety concerns for the aircrew flying into those dark landing zones.

Airfield/Landing Zone operations need portable landing zone lighting systems to support night time operations.
