Proposal Statement
Fund and field engine-off heating systems for the Army and Army National Guard tactical vehicles.
Recommendation Information
The engine-off heating system provides engine-off heat in the harshest environments. The heater will provide continuous heat for extended periods with the engine off. IT CAN RUN FOR 20 HOURS AND BURN ONLY ONE GALLON OF FUEL.
using this engine0off heater will:
Reduce operating and support costs by;
Reducing engine wear
Increase fuel savings
Reduce idling
Provide engine-off heat
Increase Force Protection - (Reducing External Noise)
Warm crew compartment
When soldiers run their vehicles in order to remain warm they use fuel and increase wear on engines.. One of the major benefits of this technology is that it allows soldiers to obtain heat for hours while saving fuel and operating support costs.
This technology can save an Infantry Brigade Combat Team operating inn temperate to cold climates thousands of gallons of fuel in a very short period of time, The heater will decrease fuel costs and maintenance costs by extending engine life.
This heater provides silent watch capabilities for sensitive and risk , security reconnaissance missions. The heater will keep soldiers warm and reduce vehicle signature. Potentially this can increase Force Protection and save soldiers lives by having the engine-off but able to restart it when needed.
The engine-off heating systems is scheduled to be teated by the U.S. Army Tank and Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center. It has been used n the commercial market for many years.
