Proposal Statement
Fund Javelin Block 1 conversion for Army National Guard Combat Engineer Companies
Recommendation Information
Current Army fielding plans will convert all active component Infantry Brigade Combat Teams (IBCT’s) and Stryker Brigade Combat
Teams (SBCT’s) to Javelin Block 1 and leave Block 0 systems in all Army Heavy Brigade Combat Teams (HBCT).
All Engineer Companies, assigned to IBCT’s are required to have Javelin Block 1 systems. Most Army National Guard IBCT Engineer
Companies have the Javelin Block 0.
Funding the remaining Block 0 to Block 1’s will allow for cost savings because of quantity supply parts buy and will “Pure Fleet” the
Javelin CLUs to Block 1.
The Javelin provides the National Guard with a dual-use capability as a unique surveillance tool previously used effectively in U.S.
border security operations.
In summary, 96 ea. Javelin Block 0 systems remain in the Army National Guard Combat Engineer Companies in 23 states and territories.
