Proposal Statement
Change "$20 million" reference in item C to "$30 million" (current resolution asks for a minimum funding of $20 million for National Guard Counterdrug Schools and needs an increase to the minimum funding of $30 million).
Recommendation Information
Proposed funding would allow the National Guard Counterdrug Program to keep up with inflation and pay raises over the last twenty years and provide a level of support originally intended by Congress.
To allow for more effective planning and execution, providing a minimum of $30 million in annual funding to National Guard Counterdrug Schools. Furthermore, congress should fund the National Guard Counterdrug Schools with a distinct line item in Defense Appropriations Bill. Setting a minimum level of baseline funding and distinct line item in the appropriation will stabilize this critical homeland defense mission and will ensure congressional intent is clearly executed once appropriated.
