Change Resolution A from High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) to High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) Modernization
Recommendation Information
RESOLUTION A: High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) to High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) Modernization
HMMWV modernization is the #1 priority of the NGAUS Army Sustainment Task Force and has been has been identified by the Director of the Army National Guard (ARNG) as a top Army Guard equipment modernization priority. HMMWV modernization has consistently been a top National Guard equipment modernization funding priority for the past eight years to modernize the Army Guard fleet of 42,000 HMMWVs. So far, approximately 4,500 HMMWVs have been modernized and fielded to formations across the US. This program has proven to be cost effective with a turnaround time in about 60 days from shipping an older HMMWV to Red River Army Depot and returning to the unit. Lastly, this program has produced a brand new platform with significant technological insertions and refurbished cabs that have improved reliability and extended service life. It is imperative for this resolution to remain so the ARNG can maintain a ready and reliable fleet that is regularly called upon to support the Nation and provide aid to fellow citizens in response to an emergency.
