Aviation units in the Army National Guard maintain a very high operational tempo (OPTEMPO). Generally, these units conduct aviation training operations commensurate with an Active Component unit of the same type and are training many days of the month, not just one weekend a month. The current OPTEMPO creates an incredible workload on the full-time force both Technician and AGR. Additional full-time manning is required to maintain Aircraft Operational Rates within the DA standard and ensure that Aviation Units within the Army National Guard to gain and sustain a high level of readiness. Current Manning Level of Resource (MLR) for Aviation units are 50% with an exception for Attack Reconnaissance Battalions to fill to 80% due to their urgent status.
