Proposal Statement
Carriage and Integration of Advanced Weapons to Support 5th/6th Generation Operations in a long-range kill chain within a contested , degraded, and operationally limited environment.
Recommendation Information
ANG A-10s require an enhanced ability to support operations in high-threat areas of operation by integrating standoff munition capabilities. These capabilities provide combatant commanders the flexibility to integrate ANG A-10s into operations that directly support 5th and 6th generation operations while augmenting 4th generation operations by freeing up valuable weapons stations on F-16, F-15E, F-18, B-1, and B-52 aircraft. Standoff munitions integration will be accomplished initially through the employment of ADM-160 Miniature Air Launched Decoy (MALD), while future standoff munitions integration should include AGM-158, AGM-84, and AGM-88. Further, integration and carriage of AIM-9X and AIM-120 is required to provide planners unrealized options for distributing munitions across areas of operations. The ability of the A-10 to forward deploy to austere locations, combined with a robust combat radius, offers combatant commanders and their planners a remarkable ability available in highly contested areas of operations. This resolution is a 2024 WEPTAC Critical Capability and is supported by the CAF Task Force and A-10 Weapons Systems Council.
