Rapid Acquisition of a datalink solution to enable integration with the joint standard – The USAF is adhering to the 2028 retirement date for SADL after which, we will have no datalink option. Additionally, there is sparse gateway coverage in the AOs we are currently operating in and the AOs we are planning to operate in. We need the datalink to complete both current and future taskings. We have already completed testing on multiple solutions that will allow us to communicate to other participants via Link-16 but we need funding to get these solutions into aircraft. We (the reserves) were granted $3M in funds to begin implementing Small Tac Terminals (STTs) into A-10s but currently there are only two aircraft that have them. STTs are transferrable to other aircraft so once the A-10 goes away, other aircraft can be modified to use them.
