Proposal Statement
In today's military operations, power is a necessity, and the need to scavenge energy wherever possible has become a vital component of modern warfare. The Squad Power Manager (SPM) is designed to address this need by providing a reliable, rugged, plug-and-play system that reduces the number of batteries soldiers would have to take into the field while supporting up to 200 different devices.
Recommendation Information
Problem Set:
The Individual and Squad Power Management Systems have the potential to greatly expand battery life and the ability of medical teams to respond to injured service members and humanitarian evacuees with greater efficiency, less equipment, and on more opportune airframes and ground vehicles in the absence of 120V-240VAC power sources or converters.
Scavenging Energy and Analytics:
The SPM Power Converter's primary function is to scavenge energy from any available source, allowing soldiers to stay connected and operational in the field. Analytics are also a critical component, providing soldiers with a better understanding of their energy consumption and mission analysis.
Plug and Play Simplicity:
One of the significant benefits of the SPM Power Converter is its simplicity. The system is a plug and play design that allows soldiers to quickly and easily connect to over 250 different devices. Even if a cable is not available, the system is flexible enough to create one in-house, making it a highly adaptable tool for any mission.
Reduced Weight and Dual Purpose Usage:
With the SPM Power Converter, soldiers can significantly reduce the weight they have to carry into the field. By eliminating the need for multiple batteries and chargers, they can operate with more flexibility and less encumbrance. Additionally, the SPM Power Converter can be used for both DOMOPS and in-theater operations, making it a highly versatile tool for any situation.
Detailed System Monitoring:
The SPM Power Converter provides soldiers with real-time information about their power supply. They can monitor the system's charge levels, the time left until fully charged, and how much time is left until the battery is depleted. The system also provides details about the voltage, wattage, and amps, making it easy to manage power usage and prevent system failures.
Conclusion:
The SPM Power Converter is a critical tool for modern military operations. Its ability to scavenge energy, its plug-and-play simplicity, and its detailed monitoring capabilities make it an indispensable tool for soldiers in the field. With its rugged and versatile design, it can replace multiple batteries and chargers in a squad, providing soldiers with a lightweight, reliable power source for any mission for the.
Recommendation:
As an Army program of record, the National Guard has not been included in the basis of issue plan and or acquisition strategy. With 27 BCT's in the ARNG as well as significant Air and Army lift assets, this capability is a combat multiplier for both operational and DSCA use. Recommend fielding SPM to mirror current Army program of record for compo 1 units.
