Fund and field cold weather safety boots.
Recommendation Information
The original steel-toed safety boots currently being issued is heavy and cumbersome. Composite-toe safety boots are lighter than steel-toe boots. Composite-toe safety boots significantly improves protection form heat and cold while allowing the combat service support Soldier to work more efficiently and with less exertion. AR 385-10, by the basis of issue and allowance in CTA 50-900 Table 4 OCIE LIN (B09054) allows for an intermediate cold weather boot. Using the climate zone map certain regions require a safety boot for cold weather. In the system for ordering there is no boot offered from PEO Soldier; therefore authorizes the local purchase of the boots. Composite-toe safety boots which meet the testing of ATSM standards are available and can be added to the CTA table.
