ESGR Honors 15 with Freedom Award

(July 29, 2014) Fifteen employers have been recognized for their support of employees who serve in the National Guard or the Reserve. They will receive the 2014 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award during a ceremony in September at the Pentagon.

The award is made each year by Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Defense Department office. ESGR released the list Monday of deserving employers. ESGR has presented the award since 1996 to recognize exceptional support from employers of reserve-component members.

The 2014 recipients were selected from 2,864 employers nominated by Guardsmen and Reservists.

The 15 winners and the nominators' components are:

Arizona Public Service, Phoenix, Army Reserve; AT&T, Dallas, Coast Guard Reserve; Capital One, McLean, Va., Army Guard; CH2M-WG Idaho, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Navy Reserve; General Mills, Inc., Golden Valley, Minn., Army Guard;

Management Systems, Inc., Grand Junction, Colo., Air Force Reserve; Los Angeles Fire Department, Los Angeles, Navy Reserve; New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, Concord, N.H., Army Guard; PNC Bank, Pittsburgh, Army Guard; Shofner Vision Center, Nashville, Tenn., Air Force Reserve;
