NGAUS Washington Report
(Sept. 23, 2013) In between speakers, social events and a sprawling trade show, the business of NGAUS was conducted over the weekend at the 135th General Conference & Exhibition in Honolulu, including the election of board members and the approval of resolutions.
The conference delegates approved the measures during the final business session this morning.
Elected during the conference were:
Area I—Maj. Gen. William Reddel, New Hampshire, adjutant general representative; Col. Frank McGinn, Massachusetts, Army representative; Col. Steve Greco, New Hampshire, Air Force representative.
Area IV—Maj. Gen. Augustus Collins, Mississippi, adjutant general representative; Col. John Mark Prine, Mississippi, Army representative; Col. Tony DeJesus, Kansas, Air representative.
Area V—Brig. Gen. Jon Fago, Nebraska, Air representative (to fill a vacancy).
Company Grade—Capt. Cassandra Seward, Air representative.
Retired/Separated—Retired Lt. Col. (Ret.) Ron Wagner, Wisconsin, Air representative.
Also, the NGAUS legislative staff organized and led the important effort to define the association's legislative agenda for the coming year. More than 100 resolutions were passed by delegates, including 37 related to Air issues, 21 related to Army issues and 48 that qualify as joint resolutions.
Highlights include resolutions calling for additional family and community benefits, equipment such as mobile missile launchers, humidity protection and a vehicle agnostic sensor, and electronic warfare warning systems. Resolutions related to C-27Js, C-21s and C-40s were removed.
Resolutions will be prioritized and form the basis of the NGAUS legislative agenda on Capitol Hill.
Also, a change was made to the by-laws of the association. The Committee on Company Grade Issues is now the Company Grade Committee.
