Air Force Commission to Release Report

NGAUS Washington Report

(Jan. 14, 2014) The National Commission on the Structure of the Air Force has finished hearing testimony and will have its report ready for the president and Congress on Feb. 1.

At its final hearing last week, Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James spoke well of the relations between the Air Force, the Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve. She said the budget for the service will reflect that.

“I can share with you that the upcoming budget submission, unlike the [fiscal 2013] experience, will rely … more heavily on the Guard and Reserve, more than what we do today,” she told the commission.

The commission has scheduled two meetings later this month to announce the report’s release. The first will be at 10 a.m., Jan. 30, at Room 236 of the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C. The second will be held at 1:30 p.m., Jan. 30, at Room 2212 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

The commission was created last year by Congress to study how or whether the structure of the Air Force should be adapted to meet current and future missions. More information can be found at
