Empowerment II

National Guard Empowerment and State-National Defense Integration Act of 2009 (S. 1361)

On March 13, 2008, the National Guard Empowerment and State-National Defense Integration Act of 2008 was introduced in both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. This legislation proposed continuing changes to the role of the chief of the National Guard Bureau and other Guard relationships. The Empowerment bills introduced in the Senate (S. 2760) and in the House (H.R. 5603) complemented the "empowerment" initiatives contained in the '08 NDAA.

The language in the 2008 Empowerment bill did not survive in the 110th Congress.
