The Legislative Workshop hosted early each year by the National Guard Bureau Office of Legislative Liaison (NGB/LL)and the NGAUS legislative staff at the National Guard Memorial in Washington, D.C. is a tradition of our two organizations that brings state legislative liaison officers to the nation’s capital for an in depth series of briefings designed to provide the attendees with an understanding of the congressional legislative process and the fundamentals of pursuing a state’s federal legislative agenda as well as legislative goals shared with other states.
The two-day event, known at one time as the CACO (Congressional Action Contact Officer) conference, focuses on helping adjutants general and their staffs, CACOs and state legislative representatives develop strategies for working with Congress to meet legislative objectives.
We strongly encourage all attendees to plan ahead to schedule visits with their delegation and to invite well in advance of the program their Senators, Representatives and their dedicated staffs to an evening reception the first day of the conference at allocation to be determined.
In the coming months we will set the date for our 2011 conference. Early in the fall, NGAUS will post notice of the event on the face page of its web site. Registration will again be electronic. We encourage the legislative action officers from our 54 states, commonwealths and territories to please try to attend what has become one of our most popular and informative event.
We have placed links below to some of the programs presented at the 2010 Legislative Workshop held at NGAUS February 1-2, 2010 and a copy of the 2010 agenda. Please contact us any time with any questions or ideas that you may have as we prepare for the 2011 event.
